Acute Pain Initial Dose
– 100mg by mouth x 1 dose
– Take on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hour after food to avoid delay in onset of action
Subsequent Doses
– 50 mg by mouth every 12 hour
– Start 12 hr after initial dose
– May take these doses with or without food
– Use for shortest duration consistent with individual patient treatment goals
– Use not studied beyond 14 days
Missed Dose
– Take missed dose as soon as possible and then take next dose at recommended time
– If ≥2 doses missed, take 100 mg and then take next dose at recommended time
– If next scheduled dose is within 6 hr: Skip dose and take subsequent doses at recommended time
– Take on an empty stomach at least 1 hr before or 2 hr after food to avoid delay in onset of action; clear liquids may be consumed (eg, water, apple juice, vegetable broth, tea, black coffee)
